Why do people keep making abstinence a religious issue? Just because Christians support something, that doesn't make it a religious issue. Many people support abstinence regardless of their religious beliefs. It is a public health issue more than anything else.
People keep saying that teens will have sex anyway... maybe it is because their parent(s) are too busy being their buddies and not being parents to those teens. Children will learn from what we teach them and what examples we set for them. Most of the time, the only reason they do whatever "the world" expects them to do is because they are not getting parented, so they are following what the media portrays as "the way things are," which is usually pretty far from reality.
